about…

As founder of widgetwonder, Denzil J. Meyers has consulted on communications strategy and branding initiatives for many top 25 US ad agencies. At Ogilvy NY, he played a leadership role from 1994 to 2004: telling powerful stories for high-profile account wins IBM and BP; stimulating creative process for Ameritrade, Swatch, Deloitte & Touche, Ford, and Kraft; and coaching cross-functional teams for SAB Miller and TimeWarner Cable.

Denzil started in advertising as a Media Planner at Benton & Bowles NY, where in 1986 he won the somewhat prestigious Platinum GRP Award for designing & airing a syndicated advertorial-cum-promotional drive-time radio series/sweepstakes for Louis Rich Turkey. Motivated since the early ’80s by a strange curiosity for the history, technology, business, and politics of electronic media, Denzil dreams of someday serving his country as FCC commissioner.

Aspiring to have a greater impact on brand relationships, Denzil moved in 1987 from Media into Jane Newman’s Chiat/Day NY Account Planning department, where he worked on American Express and lots of new business for the first wave of British Planning superstars. As an account planner, he believes telling an interesting story is more important than being “right”. Or, as the philosopher, therapist, and dramatist Fred Newman says: “The task is not to discover what’s true, but to discover the method for moving forward.”

Denzil’s passion for working groups & their creative process grows from the seeds of his qualitative research experiences, and from navigating the sometimes stormy waters of ad agencies. widgetwonder services are based on the belief that human success is best measured by how we connect, relate, and make things together.

As a relationship systems coach, communications consultant, focus group moderator, teacher at the Miami Ad School SF, stage improviser, and theatre director, Denzil helps teams of diverse talents experience themselves in new ways. He also sits, or rather “plays” on the board of the Applied Improvisation Network, a business community-of-practice organized around performance skills, creative process, development & learning, and innovation.
