coaching
Most of my coaching is with groups — relationships, rather than individuals. Partner clients — colleagues, lovers, siblings, teammates of any kind — design their alliance to create more consciously together.
Relationship systems work can help make the most of moments of transition, help build ease & alignment around trouble spots, or for new partners designing how they’d like to be as a team.
Romantic or small business partnership coaching can take place in person, or over the phone. This type of work tends to be short-term (2 to 4 months), with episodic coaching cycles to work through transitions, major decisions, or to set bold visions.
Corporate trainings and workshops, 1 or 2 day events, are designed & delivered in a dynamic and interactive style that takes tools & theory from improvisation, movement, theatre, focus group moderating, systems coaching, and bare-knuckled brawls with advertising people.
Let us help your team or partnership grow together, strengthen shared values, improve communication, and work more creatively & productively. Here are some example corporate projects:
Ogilvy NY: TimeWarner Cable— Designed & facilitated single-day creative worksession with top TWC clients and agency creatives, AE’s, planners; designed & facilitated marketing department Open Space mini-conference.
Miami Ad School SF — Performed a 10-week course in improvisational creative writing & story structure with copywriting students. Course was based on my popular writing workshop “Adventures in Micro-Fiction”.
Box Dog Bikes SF — Ongoing coaching to 5 young entrepreneurs through their adventures owning & running a co-operative bike shop.
The Martin Agency: Focus Group Moderator Training — Designed & delivered a two-day off-site training in focus group management & moderating skills, including live practice groups, for 5 agency account planners.
The Designed Alliance focuses a team on conscious and intentional relationship: Shared values and definitions of success. Agreements and holding ourselves accountable. Asking, “How do we want to handle it when someone drops the ball?”. Or, “What does this partnership want more of?”.
Grey Worldwide SF: Network Associates — Designed & facilitated a client-agency performance review, then coached the team to design their alliance more consciously. Converted “growing pains” into goodwill, better strategic direction, and improved relationship.
Phillps Semiconductors — Two merging in-house legal teamsused improv games & theory to build trust, improve communication, and practice teamwork skills.
Eternal Spring High School — Improv games & coaching helped teachers meeting for the first time begin to get acquainted, agree on shared values, brainstorm strategy, and begin to plan their new school.
